Description

A rejected character design (one of dozens) for the new project. Although I cannot usually show images from games I’m working on for others, and I prefer not to in any case, this design was rejected after the developers indicated that they were not feral enough. A basic misunderstanding - it seems that when they said ‘more anthro’ than my usual designs they meant ‘just a little more’. I drew the ‘nekkid’ reference images first and then put clothes on them.

While my Feramyans show almost no sexual dimorphism (physical differences between males and females) this design heads very much in the other direction. The males are physically much heavier than the females with tremendous upper strength, but they cannot command magic. The females are extremely slender, but agile and powerful magic-users. I also reversed expectations by giving the males longer, denser manes. This division was actually invented for the sake of game-play, although I was very ambivalent from the first to lock in character roles according gender. I just wanted to work through this design anyway to see how it looks.

The choice of weapons and possibly costumes may remain (although the ‘open-crotch’ design is questionable). The male was originally holding a sword but I changed that to these double-bladed staves, which combine the aspects of fighting staves, spears and swords in one weapon. Lady Nim probably knows what these are called. The female carries a lighter version, but her main weapon is her wand.

And no boobies! That was a deliberate choice, not an omission. They are mammals; they just don‘t have ‘catgirl’ boobies. But lots’a pubic tufts!

Pretties!

Historically, double bladed staffs and staves were pretty much never used, as fighting with them typically puts the wielder at as much risk as the person they're trying to attack. Usually they were used more in the symbolic sense, as a ceremonial weapon.

About the closest I can think if would be the Spartan Dory, a long spear with a leaf shaped blade, and spike at the butt.

Of course, cats are far stronger and faster and more agile than humans, so they could probably put such a weapon to better use. *grin*
